The Spiritual Gifts: Serving the Lord with perfect tools
1 Corinthians 12:1-13
I. The Body of Christ
1.People Saved, People adopted! – v.3,13
3 Therefore I tell you that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, "Jesus be cursed," and no one can say, "Jesus is Lord," except by the Holy Spirit.
13 For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body--whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free--and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.
2. Unity and Diversity – v.12, 27
12 The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ.
27 Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.
3.One Spiritual Gift to each one (at least) – v. 7
7 Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.
II. Spiritual Gifts
1. Under direction of the Trinity – v. 4-6,11
Charismata = gifts - Spirit
Diakonia = ministry - Lord
Energemata = operations - God
2. For the common good of the Body – v.7
7 Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.
3. Must be eagerly desired – v.31
31 But eagerly desire the greater gifts. And now I will show you the most excellent way.
